So, DH and I were looking at cars after work today. The kids were with us and bored, so I went and sat in our car with them while DH looked around. I didn't put the kids in the carseat and I did not start the car. I let them take turns sitting on my lap in the driver seat so they could pretend to drive. Some lady kept looking at us and finally said something to my DH about what I was doing and that it didn't seem safe.
I could see if we left the kids in the car alone and let them play around that it was unsafe....but seriously...I was in the car, sitting in the driver seat. They were on my lap and the car was not turned on. I don't think I did anything wrong. The kids are 2 and 4 by the way. DH told her it was probably more unsafe to let them run around the parking lot, which is what they wanted to do. I wanted to tell her to mind her own damn business.

ha ha. not to derail the post but this reminds me of an incident last week - I got in a minor car accident. I was the one driving, NOT dh. when the insurance person called, they clarified that, but then still asked if I would prefer they contact him with any follow up questions. HUH?
