Need play time ideas! Suggestions please!

Hello ladies!  My LO just turned two, and I'm fortunate to be a stay-at-home-mom. I find that I run out of play ideas sometimes.  We read books a lot, which she loves, and build with her blocs and stuff. And she loves to help me around the house which is super fun: make the bed, do the laundry, unload the dishwasher, etc.  But sometimes I get tired of reading books (shocker!).

Do you have a website you go to for play ideas?  What are some of your LO's favorite activities?

  • playdough and painting. both my kids love doing both.  I buy a bunch of cheap tablecloths and let them paint on that so there is less clean up.  Play dough can keep them busy for hours.  It is great.

  • Play doh for sure! DS looooves the stuff. And finger painting or drawing with crayons...although he gets bored with the crayons somewhat fast. We watch a couple kids shows on DVD per day (set up a schedule for it, one after breakfast, one after his afternoon nap, so he knows when and how much TV he can watch).  I run out of ideas too especially if DH has a long work day..by around 5:30 we're both a little bored and tired haha (and being 6 months pregnant, I run out of energy pretty quick sometimes!)

  • We dance around the house, blow bubbles outside, ride her bike, go for walks, we "cook" (she pours ingredients into the bowl for me), she got a pop up play tent for her birthday which is fun for hours, we play hide and seek, and I recently printed off some basic graphic pictures that we can match, play memory, identify colors, or just name the objects in the picture (pics of two different shoes, we name the colors, I turn them over and she tries to remember where the picutre of the shoe is. etc.).
