f/u to potty training at daycare

Just a follow up to my drama from last week about the semi-forced potty training they were starting on J at daycare now that's he's moved a new room.

Last week, the director told me that they were going to start potty training J, and I needed to stop sending CDs and send in training pants. Until I had those they would just use disposables. I was upset because he had *just* started in that room and I was worried about the transition on top of potty training (which I didn't really think he was ready for).

I think I mentioned before, I think a lot of this was predicated on the fact that they just didn't want to CD him anymore (but would never own up to that).

Anyway, today, I talked to the actual DCP in his room to tell her that the potty training pants hadn't come yet. She said not to worry--she wasn't going to start him on that for at least another month. Because she thought it would be too much for him to start it so soon after transitioning to the new room (!). So, yay for that. When I asked if that meant I could send in CDs for the rest of the month, though, she said no. Heh. Oh, well. At least they're not pushing the potty training as hard as I thought--now *I* have time to adjust to the whole idea :-)

  • Sounds like a good ending!
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.

  • I had a very similar experience re: transitioning and center wanting to start potty training soon.  I was told that they'd like to start putting her on the potty and using pull ups a few weeks after her move.  We knew that we wanted to go the 3 day method/ non-pull up route, so I spoke with her teacher, shared the method we'd be using and she was totally onboard with going cold turkey, undies only.  The 3 day worked for us (only accidents at daycare so far this week was waking wet from nap and 1 poop accident).  I felt much better about the (rushed) timing of the potty training, since we chose the method and got her started.  GL!
