IT'S A GIRL!!!

So I was a little suprised that they told us so early, but while the technician was doing our NT scan baby Evelyn was wriggling around and just happend to pause so she could see. I am so excited!!! But I think hubby and I were more excited to hear that her heartbeat was 160 bpm, she looked strong and healthy...and clear of Downs!!! With this being our 5th pregnancy (although she'll have no siblings) we've spent this entire pregnancy afraid of every little turn. We still have 6 weeks until our final hurdle but after today's U/S I feel so much more confident that we will be able to meet and play with us in March. Has anyone else found out yet?

That's fantastic news and I can no wait until we find out the sex of our baby!!! We probably won't get to find out until I'm 16 weeks. I'm going to have one of those 4D ultrasounds at one of those ultrasound centers. I'm soooo incredibly excited!! And I hope I have a girl too!

I suggest cautiously shopping for pink items before your anatomy scan where the chance of accurate prediction go up drastically. Usually gender predictions at the NT scan are educated guesses, but can be wrong. The guess is based on the angle of the genitalia. Commonly boys will be at a 30 degree angle and girls are parallel. However, many techs and doctors have guessed wrong. I know of two situations were it happened...and the dr. who did my NT scan told me he has been wrong before (and he is one of the top MFM dr.s in this area). In any event happy to hear your LO looks great...and if it does turn out to be a girl Congrats! That was my dr.s educated guess for our LO too :-).

Congratulations on the good u/s, but like PP said, I definitely wouldn't go painting the nursery pink yet. 12 weeks is awfully early for a gender prediction, especially for a girl.

Congratulations!!!! That's so exciting!  I have my NT scan tomorrow and I am hoping they can tell me its a girl as well! Although I will confirm at the following appt.

That's awesome! Congratulations! I wish I knew what we were having but we don't find out until 19wks 4days. Seems like so far away!

Don't buy pink yet. They have a good guess at the NT scan, but you're not for sure until the anatomy scan. She guessed mine first a girl at 13 weeks, and was correct, but seriously, they are just looking at a little line on the ultrasound. If its angled up its typically a boy, and if its angling down its typically a girl, but there is no for sure for a few more months. Early congrats though.

We won't know until 20 weeks.  I thought for sure it was a girl.  (Just by the way I felt.)  But now I am feeling like it might be a boy.  I think that may be because we did go looking for some baby stuff over the weekend and boys stuff is so much more cute and fun.  Monsters!  Aliens?  Big ol' trains!  Fun!  

All the little girls stuff is like pink/hearts/bows/flowers.  Boring.  If it is a girl maybe I can find some red/pink monsters for her!

They wouldn't tell us their gender guess at my 13 week NT scan. We have to wait until 20 weeks! Seems sooooo far away. I'm jealous of all of you finding out at 16 weeks!

I'm surprised she didn't give you a disclaimer. I hope she was right. I think if I was thinking it definitely was one sex based on an u/s and then told later it was the other sex I'd feel a little odd. I know of situations where the tech was wrong at 20 weeks and the nusery and clothes were all wrong when the baby came.

Congrats on a great ultrasound!  Its always nice to get the reassurances that everything is going good.  The farther I get, the less stress I have!  DH and I can't wait to find out!

We were able to find out at our NT scan as well.  We are having a BOY this time!  My DH is so excited :-)  We aren't buying boy stuff yet but we are pretty confident in both the tech and the specialist that does our scans.  Good luck with this pregnancy!

Yes I know my sister in law had her son in march. At her 20 week appointment they told her girl but said they were not 100% sure and not to paint walls. She had two more ultrasounds (i believe at 22 and 26 ish weeks, I remember one was 2 weeks after and then another month) anyways they said girl at both of those ultrasounds. EVERY THING was pink, and yet it was a complete surprise to her and all the doctors when Jeremy was born a boy!

I don't think that happens as much as they are right, but i just wante to sharemy family's experience.

 and congrats on the great Ultrasound!!  How exciting that they could predict the gender! I won't be able to find out until Mid October!

Isn't it such a relief to get positive news at and after the scan?  Congrats!

The u/s tech and Dr. made an educated guess at our NT scan (and both agreed with one another), but we are not running out to buy anything gender specific until our anatomy scan in 4-6 weeks.  It is exciting just to have a guess though!

Congrats!! I'm glad the baby is healthy and doing wonderfully! I also agree with PP's about not painting the nursery or buying stuff (or, at least keep the receipts and tags on!). I can't tell you how many people I know IRL or on here that have been told one thing at 12-16 weeks, only to be told a different gender later!

Hubby and I are excited, but we are only buying gender neutral items(bed set, diapers, ect) until the gender U/S. Thanks for all the encouragement though!

The same thing happened to a friend of mine.  She was told girl all the way through and then it turned out to be a boy when he was born.  FWIW, I've heard that the chance that they are wrong is much higher when they guess girl than when they guess boy (ie-more "girls" turn out to be boys), so definitely take it with a grain of salt.  Hope that they're right, though!
