How did it go? My 3yo old will go on Wed and I keep picturing him on the bus as it's leaving my house and him wondering why is mommy still there and I'm leaving
The first two days either me or H drove behind the bus and met DS at school. It eased his anxiety immensly and he ended up loving to ride the bus. I am a firm believer in baby steps.
DS has been riding the bus since he was 2.5. He was not happy the first day when we put him on, but he was fine by the time he got to school (or so his teacher told us). He loves the bus now and runs out the door when I tell him it is time.

For now 3yo DS only rides home from school. His ride to school would have been 80 minutes while his ride home is only 15-20.
He's been riding for 3 weeks now and is doing great with it. It's just another part of his school day routine because he sees all the other kids getting on the bus. Would this be an option for you? If not I second the poster(s) who mentioned meeting the bus at the school. I know a couple of moms who did this for the first day.
I do plan to meet the bus to see how he does getting off but I think him seeing me would make matters worse. Thanks for the advice. He has to miss the first two days as he is sick with a fever
