Sam's Club or BJ's???

We're finally considering joining one, but we were wondering who has better prices? From looking at the websites, it looks like BJs is $10 more for the year, but they take manufacturer's coupons, along with having in-store coupons. And it looks like Sam's doesn't accept coupons. Do you ladies have a preference or any suggestions? TIA

We belong to BJ's and they send out lots of coupons, usually 1 booklet a month for lots of different things. We really tend to get toiletries/cleaning products there, more because I would rather just buy them less often. I'm not that big of a comparison shopper. Oh they have greeting and thank you cards for cheap too!

I belong to Sams club and have for years. I think I originally picked Sams because they had the cheap gas too... but I think BJs now does gas, so I guess that's no longer a deciding factor.  Just have always used Sams.  Lol.  Oh... and I also used Saams for my wedding flowers (weird, right?)... but they were insanely cheap.

Come to think of it... I've never been in a BJs.  Maybe I should use one of those free trial memberships and check it out.

We had a BJs membership and then Sam's had an open house in August so we went to that. It's hard to tell.. seems like they have different stuff.  I don't know.

However Sam's only takes certain credit cards I believe.. and no gas at the one in Latham if I'm correct..

We have had BJ's since 2004 and let it expire this month. IDK, I think I probably pay more in the long run on stuff. There were a few go to things that we got there, some are no longer sold and some are cheaper at Wegmans....yes cheaper (40lb box of cat litter).

 We will probably get it back but I am going to see if we actually need it. I would always pick BJ's over Sam's based on the coupon policy.

I like the coupon policy & the booklets they send out. And they sell the BEST chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches that I can't find anywhere else.

I hate that I always buy extra crap every time I go. It seems like I can't leave for under $150.

We have had both and we've stuck with BJ's. I'm not sure what the policy is now, but when we left Sams the only credit card they took was discover. This was a big turnoff for us. BJ's also accepts all coupons, even the printed ones. I buy all the diapers from there and they will use a manufactures coupon and one of theirs. They always send out coupon books as well. We get a discounted price through DH's work so we stick with it.  I really like some of their meat prices as well. I agree that you can't leave there under 150$ though.

They now take Mastercard, or you can use your debit card.  

We don't have BJs here, and we have always been Sam's Club members, but considering DH works for them, I guess that's to be expected.  I love their gas, their return policy, and their photo department.

BJs is way better and they accept coupons (like you said) and also send out their own coupon books as well.

BJs.  They actually closed the Sams on my side of town.  I really like the BJs coupon booklets they send me.  I definitely make my $ back by using those coupons at Price Chopper.  BJs usually has discounts on their membership through employers and such.

I would pick BJs.  Bc you can use manufacturer coupons on top of the BJs coupons, plus they usually let you use up to 3 manu coupons plus the bj coupon which makes it a good price.  But we are members of Sams bc they have the frozen chicken portions we buy and also the black flavor of 5 hr energy drinks for dh.  But whenever I can go for a free trial to bj's I go!

i've never belonged to one. I go often with friends of mine who have a membership to both stores and i have no preference. they stock different items ,so you might want to price compare & inventory compare too. when i tag along i'll end up buying some of their meats for the freezer since the price is cheaper, but its all vacuum sealed so you know it isn't as fresh as the meat counter.

I personally despise Walmart so I have never stepped foot in a Sam's Club.  My parents belong to BJs and I've gone with my mom a bunch of times.  I was impressed with their book selection and when Eva was younger we found a bunch of cute clothes there for her too.  I'm picky about food so I've never gotten any there but my mom buys all her paper products there plus coffee, snacks and candy for her office.
