2 yr old flowergirl- Hair help needed!!!

My cousin's wedding is in 2 weeks and dd is the flowergirl. ?I have no idea what to do with her hair. ?It is about shoulder length and she has bangs. ?Her hair is super straight.

Suggestions needed, please! ?I'm pretty pathetic with hair, but can manage a ponytail and barrette. ?We take her to get her haircut and she sits really well for the hairdresser. ?Not perfectly still, but pretty still and she really enjoys it. So I am not opposed to taking her somewhere to get it done, but I don't know what to have them do. ?Is it crazy to take a 2 yr old to get her hair done for a wedding?

Thanks so much for your help.?

  • We had our florist make a little wreath of flowers with the extra flowers.  I think updos look wierd on little ones.  You could always just pin it back on the sides with some fancy clips.
  • What about something like a "french" ponytail (I'm not sure how else to describe it!)? ?That's what I do with DD's hair when I want it to be "fancy." ?Much easier and holds better than a french braid. ?You could put little flowers in each of the elastics and it would be adorable. ?Let me go hunt up a pic of DD with her hair like I'm talking about...

  • Is her hair long enough to pull into a ponytail?

When my dd was a flowergirl I used sponge curlers.  Just put them in when her hair is almost dry and keep them in as long as possible.  Then just pull her hair back in a high ponytail and put a bow in it to match her dress.

I definitely recommend practicing this style...the sponge curlers can make the hair crazy curly so don't get tiny ones if you decide to go this route and realize that it will relax, so if it's insane curls to start they'll settle down.

  • Sorry, forgot to add text to that picture post! ?So this isn't the best pic of DD ever, but you can see the hair. ?I've also done this in pigtail form all the way down to the nape of her neck. ?It takes very little time to do and stays in really well. ?And you could dress it up with flowers in the elastics or something fancy instead of a bow, etc.
  • dd was a flower girl this weekend and we did pigtails with ribbons she looked to darn cute.. (we dont have a choice she didnt have much hair) I wouldnt take her to get it done.. i think it would make her look older.. i like the braid idea.
  • I would probably just pull it halfway up and curl it with a curling iron.  Then spray it really well with hair spray so they last.  And you could even put a flower or two in it.
  • Ohhh, great ideas, girls, thank you!

For DD who has hair similar to what you describe, when she was a FG I did her hair in two french braids... but I only went halfway down, not all the way... and we put two white flower combs on each side.

  • We had a 2 yo FG for our wedding. She had somewhat straight, shoulder-length hair and bangs. The hairdressers did half-up, half-down for her. Then again, our FGs wore little tiaras. Does she have a clip or flower or anything to wear? Even a big ribbon to tie the ?up? part?
