I don't know where else to go with this....but it's driving me nuts. I know it's more of a WAH thing but I feel more comfortable over here....
DH and I own a trucking business and I say "we" own it loosely as legally, I own nothing of it. I have been there from the beginning, from the day he quit his previous job and bought the truck that started us off. I was involved in the decision for him to quit, I'm involved in decisions to buy more trucks, I often go on the trips to get those trucks, I handle all the bookwork (invoicing, payments, balancing), tax filings, run our FB page and various "office" stuff like purchasing supplies or designing our business cards.
Lately I have had to fill out legal forms that ask for my title. As we expand our services I find myself filling out more and more forms, most asking for my title.
What the heck am I? I'm reluctant to put myself as an owner/co-owner as I legally don't own anything (long story, DH put his name on one form, it stuck and here we are). And I really don't care for "bookkeeper" as it sounds old fashioned and I feel I have more duties than that anyway. I'm also the only one in the "office" (currently the kitchen until we start our addition) so there really isn't anyone beneath me (besides the drivers but they're really under DH). I don't have set hours and I don't receive a paycheck either. I do my work as time in the day allows (along with my other job of referee/mom, lol:)
I feel so silly that it bothers me but with the work I put in, I want a title to put down when it's needed. I have mentioned it to DH but he just kind of brushes it off and I don't feel comfortable pressing an issue that is kinda of silly but still needed. It's so dumb, we can talk about anything else but this has me stumped....

Office Manager makes sense to me too. Your customers/vendors don't know that there isn't an official office.
And yes, why don't you guys pay you too? Wouldn't there be tax advantages to that?
Thanks for the input ladies!
I also thought of Office Manager but figured I didn't really "manage" anyone. I do, however, manage a lot of things so it would probably fit.
DH does not receive a check as he is sole proprietor. To be honest, I'm not sure how that all works, we work it out with our accountant when we file every year so it's not illegal, that I know. We're pretty small. I file and submit the proper forms and taxes every quarter/year as I need to withdraw from our employees. I don't receive a paycheck since I'm not on our payroll as I work so few hours and it's all over the place. I don't mind not receiving an official check....we don't have an issue with me getting permission to spend money, in fact sometime DH has to ask me since I run the books.
DH varies when it comes to who is the owner...sometimes it's him, sometimes it's us. That would be in conversation though, if someone asks him what he does for a living he'll say he owns a trucking business. Other times he'll say "our business" or that "we" own it. It's Ourlastname Trucking so I could say I was an owner and very few would question it. I'm on the business cards and my signature is on 95% of the checks that leave our business bank account.
It's been 5 years and I haven't really cared but now we're working on jobs and with contracts that require additional forms, all asking what my purpose is, lol.

Director of Operations?
:-)
Lol, we have an inside joke that DH could be CEO and I could be CFO. It stemmed from his estranged cousin (and uncle) who farms and has business cards naming him the CEO of their farm (and he's serious). They're not a corporation or anything, they just like to put on a show. They have screwed family and neighbors so very few like to associate with them.
