Help with humidifier versus vaporizer please

I just can't figure out whether to get cool mist or warm steam. I know there are pros and cons to both, but what do you have/plan on getting?

Re: Help with humidifier versus vaporizer please

  • I registered for a humidifier.  My house is always dry in the winter (even though I have a whole-house humidifier), so I'm not worried about excess moisture or mold happening.

I feel like warm air penetrates easier especially if LO gets the croup which I had ALL the time when I was little.  Mom would sit me on the toilet in the bathroom with the door closed and shower running on hot so I could breathe in the steam if it was really bad!

  • I already have a vaporizer. I bought the cheap vicks vaporizer when DD was sick. It seemed to help. I have no experience with any other vaporizer or humidifier so I have no idea how it stacks up but like I said, it did the job for DD.

  • Get the cool mist. The warm mist can burn LOs if you are not careful. It usually occurs when they are walking or pulling up by themselves.

  • I read an article about this and when it comes to babies they said to get a warm humidifier. The reason is that the cool one creates mold, the hot one can burn the baby if it crawls towards it and the warm one is just perfect.
