Pack N Play Mattress, How to Make it more comfortable?

-->

Does anyone know if they sell a pack n play mattress that is more comfortable then the one in it comes with? My baby tosses and turn all night when he is in it... and the top part seems to move around (bounces) so I am thinking of putting him on the bottom where it's more stable.. he 4.5 months about...

I saw that they sell porta crib ones, but they leave a gap around the edges... Anyone try to make the pack n play more comfortable for sleeping when away?TIA!

  • a PnP is all we've had since she was born...at first she wouldn't sleep in it, then my cousin suggested laying a blanket down because it was too hard for her. I just found her fluffiest blanket and tucked it all around the mattress. It doesn't shift and has worked like a charm!

  • my mom watches my son and recently added a blanket under the pnp sheet, which makes me nervous. of course she argued with me that he was uncomfortable and 'sleeping on a board' wasnt ideal for his 3 naps a day. so i wound up finding this from walmart and buying it.

    honestly, for $33 i felt it was worth it. he will probably be in the pnp at her house everyday for at least the next year, and then we will just put it away for the next baby.

    we have a graco so we bought the graco one, but i did see it for other makes of pnps.

  • BRU and Target both sell quilted PNP sheets. They're a little thicker than a regular sheet, so it makes the PNP mattress softer without compromising safety.

    What's the weight limit on your PNP for the top part? We have a Chicco PNP and the instructions say to lower the mattress to the bottom when the baby is 15 lbs.

  • we put some nice plush towels in between the mattress and the fitted sheet and that seemed to do the trick for DS.

  • We have the Dream On Me Extra Firm Playard Mattress.....it's the closest to a crib mattress I could find.  It's easy to wipe off, fits nice and snug in our PNP and DS sleeps a whole lot better.

  • We use this: https://www.amazon.com/Eddie-Bauer-Quilted-Play-Yard/dp/B000COUO8W It's not as comfy as having a real mattress would be, but we only use our PnP for travel and DD seems to sleep fine with it. If she were sleeping in it every day and/or night, I would definitely look into the Dream On Me mattress.

  • We got rid of the newborn napper/top part early.  He's been sleeping on the mattress on the bottom since he was about 2 months old.

  • Ok, cool. I will look into this one.. Did they sell at Walmart or just walmart online? thanks!
  • I have the Graco and I'm not sure.. will look into lowering it...
  • I mentioned it to another mom not too long ago here. The best option for us has been the Mattress Topper by MamaDoo Kids. It goes on top of the pack n play mattress and it fits perfectly and it is firm. It is a wonderful product because it folds in 3, so it is compact enough for storage and travel. They have great reviews in amazon, but a better price in their website. We love it!!
