Hey girls. I lurk a lot around here but have never introduced myself. I'm Ashlee and I had b/g twins Jan. 31st. They were 33w1d. Reid was 5 pounds and needed no assistances and Addison was 4 pounds and 9 ounces and need an hour of CPAP and 12 hours of room air canula. They are both doing great!
ok so now to the post.....
So we are going to be starting BWL soon. They have reached the milestones that the book suggests. They will be adjusted 5 months next Wednesday. My question is do I need to worry about allergies with certian foods? They are EBF and they have not had any reactions to any food I have had and we have no food allergies in the family. I know they said when the child is 6 months you dont have to worry about allergies because the digestive system is mature enough but I wasnt sure about preemies. ........also.. the kids have not had any rice cereal or purees yet.
TIA
Re: XP: BWL (starting solids)
You still need to worry about allergies. I'd avoid high allergen foods and follow the same guidelines as purees, etc regarding introducing those high allergen foods. It's completely not true that when a child is 6 months allergies aren't a worry. I'm not sure where that information has come from.
We aren't BLW, but we are just now starting oatmeal just to give them practice moving food from the front to back of their mouth. I'm waiting until 7 months (5 adjusted) to start anything else.
