my poor butt crack!

Anyone else look like they have diaper rash!?!?  Yesterday after a long day and I am sure a lot of sweating down there my butt crack is on fire!!  I looked and it's red/irritated!!!  I'm hoping it goes away by tonight or maybe I'll give my doc a call to make sure it's nothing else!  Ouch!!

  • Nope, but I've head some serious constipation lately so when I finally did have a BM it was painful for the first 2 days.  Today it was finally softer but my butt was already raw so it still hurt a bit.  I can't wait to go back to normal.

  • i don't have it in my butt crack, but i have it in the crevices where my thighs & crotch meet (TMI sorry). i've been overweight my entire life though so i've gotten it off & on, but sometimes it does get bad and we were outside for a long time yesterday after the earthquake and i was really sweaty when i got home. baby powder (especially with cornstarch) is your best friend to help keep you dry. you can call your doc just for reassurance, but that's probably what it's from. HTH!

  • I haven't developed it from pregnancy, but did get it from a really hot run where I dumped water over my head (and it subsequently ran down my crack) & continued running.  From what I recall, I didn't do anything (aside from keeping it dry) and it went away quickly.  I've heard powder is good (like PP suggested) and someone on here also mentioned cracking open LO's diaper rash cream.  I'd do that as a last resort (and with Dr. permission) though.  Good luck!

  • Mine gets irritated and itchy, and has for pretty much my whole pregnancy. My doctor said I could use hydrocortisone cream when the itchiness gets unbearable. The heat is definitely not helping!

This and try sprinkling a little Gold's Bond powder helps too.

  • I've had this a couple of times. Freshen up and remove any lingering sweat with Huggies moisturizing baby wipes 2-3 times a day (the ones with shea butter...they're soooo soothing), rub Boudreaux's Butt Paste on the area at bedtime, and dust a little bit of cornstarch or baby powder there in the morning. Yep, just like treating diaper rash. :D

When I do this, it clears up almost overnight. It's still a pain in the a$$, though (literally).

  • I used Penaten (sp) cream when I was prepping for a colonoscopy, it was very soothing!
