I posted a few days ago because I thought my water was leaking (I'm going on 39 weeks, so the time is getting close). I wasn't sure because it was a very little trickle/ gush, followed by nothing for several hours, followed by more. Just clear, odorless liquid.
So I had an appointment on Friday and the midwives tested me for amniotic fluid. It came up negative and the midwife told me I was just experiencing increased leukoreah/ discharge (sp?) She also said when my water breaks it would be a big gush, or a trickle that just doesn't stop.
However, I have read other posts on here where people didn't realize their water had broken because it was a slow leak or the baby's head was very engaged and acting as a "stopper". I have been experiencing this all weekend, on and off, and when I looked up leukoreah, everything I found referred to a milky, thicker discharge. This is just like water. So how do I know when it's amniotic fluid and time to call?
I don't want to be doing a daily test of this stuff, but I'm worried my water will have broken and I won't know it, and the baby will be low on fluid.
Re: So how do you tell amniotic fluid from other stuff?
when is your next appt?
last pg i thought i was leaking also but it ended up it was just urine...having a constant pressure on my bladder and it being full from all the water i guess made it hard to hold.
But if your water BREAKS you will know. Otherwise, if it is a slow leak the only way they will know is by testing the fluid.
so if you dont go to the dr. til friday, id call. if you go mon.tues.wed i might wait it out.
How was your leak diagnosed? Is it clear? Did you have any other signs?
when they determined mine was NOT amniotic fluid, they took a test strip to my panties and checked the PH. then they also just did an US and measured the amount of fluid in the sac.
