we aren't trying to spend a lot of money on furniture and I need a dresser, bookcase, and night stand...where did you look? I've been checking craigslist and garage sales but no luck! TIA!
For a bookcase, I suggest Walmart, Target or somewhere like that. We got two adjustable 3-shelf bookcases from Walmart when we moved here and needed bookcases. I think they were under $30 a piece. But also, have you tried Goodwill or other thrift stores? My fiance and I got a leather sofa and recliner for about $50 from Goodwill. Not the prettiest furniture, but they work, they're comfy and well-made. Especially since we got slipcovers for them.
I'm a fan of the Cubeicals, so I plan on using that stuff mostly for the non-crib furniture.

There are 15 furniture stores now in the Short North - lots of great finds at the antique stores - and some very very affordable and one-of-a--kind.
Ikea is fun too and just a short drive to Cincinnati.
My mom found some great cheap furniture at the JC Penny outlet on the East side.
Good Luck!
