Baby Names

Names are getting harder after 2 kids

If you asked me last week I would have told you we have our names picked out.. (we are not finding out the gender).. Now thinking about it we are at a totally war on names.. Our daughter is Chloe Renee our son is Gunner Wayne.. this is our final baby ..for a girl I am in love with Caroline Leigh (Leigh was my late mother's middle name) and for a boy I love Declan Wesson... our last name is Smith.. My husband's family is very much into sports.. Gunner came close to being called Boomer ( husband picked names for son) He really likes Evelyn Leigh for a girl and for a boy Madden.. I don't like Madden at all.. I'm really into old southern names and for some reason I just keep coming back to Caroline but I can't sell him on it. We never had this problem with our other 2 at all!!!!!

  • Maybe Carolyn would be a good compromise for the girl?

Can't help you with the boy's name, other that to say  I like your pick MUCH more than his!

  • I am not too big on Carolyn.. and Declan was just a name I like.. I really feel no desire to have a boy name at all.. I am really feeling girl with this pregnancy. And our little boy is a little terror in his twos so I told my husband he better pray he made a little sugar and spice.. We have also thrown June out there. He likes that better then Caroline

  • Wesson Smith like the reverse of Smith and Wesson to go along with sibling Gunner? No judgement I'm genuinely curious to know if this is a coincidence or if your family is really into their rights to bear arms.

  • Yeah it is a play on that.. and it was my way of getting my husband to agree to Declan.. he didn't think it was a manly name.. so I put Wesson as the middle name and for a couple weeks he said that was fine.. Wesson was also suggested by a lot of friends and family when I was pregnant with my son.. But Gunner had nothing to do with guns or anything my husbands family is very much into football all of them played in high school and my father-in-law played it in college so he had to have a good football name they said.. if I had my way he would be Grant but I named our daughter so I told my husband if he got a boy he could name him..
  • Madden just makes me think of the football video game, which is probably what he's going for huh? Not a fan, though. His taste in girl names is better, Evelyn is very pretty. Maybe since he picked your boy name last time, you could get the boy choice and he could get the girl choice? That way, no matter what, your kiddo will have a great name? Good luck!

  • I really like Evelyn.  It is classic, feminine and strong.  Caroline is very popular right now, especially in the South and Eastern states.  I think there are a lot of people really into the "-ine" names right now (Clementine, Coraline, Emmeline, Madeline and even saw something like Pommeline recently).  Very beuatiful names but your little girl will be one of many if names Caroline.
  • Just read the part about considering June.  LOVE the name June for a little girl!
