The good and the bad. Looks like Friday is the day we meet our boys. As of right now, I'm 3cm and 75% with a very low baby A. I'm a bit nervous about being induced.

The labor part of m L&D was pretty pleasant. They sent me in at about 10am to get some blood work done to see if they wanted to induce me or not. That took an hour or two, but once they made the decision, things moved pretty fast. I was already starting to progress on my own, which probably made things go a little faster. I was 2-3cm when I left my Dr office, and 3-4cm when they checked me at the hospital. Once the pit started, my contractions were coming on pretty strong and in intervals, but they weren't unbearable. My OB came in to see how things were going, and to break my water. After they broke baby A's water, the contractions REALLY started coming on strong, which they told me would happened. It was painful, but bearable. I decided to go ahead and get the epi, which wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. Since my platelet levels were so low, they did have a hard time stopping the injection site from bleeding. After about an hour, I started noticing that I could feel my contractions again, it wasn't really painful, but they were starting to get stronger and stronger and eventually became painful. I was able to handle them, but I told the nurse and they were trying to figure something out. They upped my Epi, and gave me a shot of something that worked for a while, but again wore off. I still couldn't feel my legs (or my butt cheeks!) but I could feel my contractions. Just as they were coming in to give me something for pain, I felt a LOT of pressure, so they checked me and ended up being 9cm! We had to wait for the anesthesiology team because there was some emergency and they had to call in another one. If that wouldn't have happened, the girls would have been born on different days! I did my practice pushes, and they wheeled me off to the OR. Then the fun began......
Livian Elizabeth and Alayna Marjorie! On their way to 3!
I was induced with my daughter but still cooking these twins.
Around 7 am they started Pitocin and broke my water. I was 2cm and 80% i think when i came in. Contractions were getting bad by 8 am and horrid by 10:30 and then I got epi. The epi was pure heaven. Though I puked while laying down just from everything going on all day. Checked me around 1 pm and i was about a 5. By 6 pm i was at a 10 and ready to push. Took docs awhile to get ready so I started pushing around 7 and about 2 hours later my daughter was here. 2 hours of pushing was EXHAUSTING! Most amazing experience of my life
I was induced with my son (not twins). My OB broke my water about 8 p.m. and nothing much happened. I walked the halls until I was just tired. About midnight I finally started having regular contractions and he was born about 2:30 a.m. No pitocin or other interventions necessary. Hoping it all goes smoothly - I think you are doing amazing not to be screaming to have them out today. These last few weeks with twins is sending me over the edge.

I was a fingertip dilated and 100% effaced the day of induction. Started pit at 9 pm and was kept on a steady drip and monitored overnight. I was having measurable contrax all night but didn't feel anything. At 6 am they started titrating my dose.
By 11 am I was making no progress and was on a pretty high dose of pit - they started making me walk around, bounce on a ball etc to get thing moving. By the time I started feeling the contrax I was almost on the max dose of pit.
the contrax were strong, fast and painful. Three mins apart lasting 2-2.5 mins each. They checked me and I was only 4 cm and station 2. I was sure I was a ten with the way I felt. I practically begged for the epi.
I had the epidural by 2 pm and I went to sleep I woke up after 4 and they checked me again; by then I was fully dilated. They had me try to push, but I couldn't feel anything. They turned off my epi line and by the time our delivery team was assembled and I was in the OR about an hour had passed.
I pushed for 56 min with DS. it wasn't painful, just frustrating because I couldn't feel/work with my contrax for the first 30 +/- mins. Once I could feel the contrax it was so much easier and faster. I delivered DD 13 min later.
delivering the placentas (both at once) was so much more painful than the kids. I think bc I was SO tired (22 hrs of labor and two babies, hellooooo) but also because my epi was completely gone by then.
delivery was so much easier and less scary than I thought it would be! GL
Yay for almost being done!!! I am counting down the days (18 to be exact) until my induction date as these last few days have been miserable
I was induced w/ DS#1, so I can't speak of delivering twins just yet, but here is my story:
I was supposed to be called into the hospital on a Thursday but b/c they were too busy I didn't end up getting called in until the next day (at 4:30 am!). I took the time to shower, do hair & makeup and even paint my toes b/c I wanted pictures to be cute I got to the hospital about 5:30am and they had to wait to start the induction b/c my OB was scheduled for a few C-sec's at another hospital. Finally around 11am (yes, after ~6 hours of waiting) they could finally start the antibiotics (I was + for Group B strep) so these had to run for 4 hrs before they could start pitocin.
Around 3pm they finally started the pitocin (I too was already at 3cm, w >75% effacment so no cervadil was needed). They started it at 2 mg/hr (or whatever the dosage is) and were planning to up it by 2 every 30 min to an hour.
They moved me to an L&D room around 4pm and decided to break my water around 5pm. Then all he!! broke loose as contractions went from being tolerable to room spinning crazy! They actually had to turn the pitocin off (I only got to 10mg/hr but I guess some people tolerate as high as 30mg/hr, crazy) and give me a terbutaline shot to stop the contractions b/c they were so intense. I wanted the epidural ASAP, but the anesthesiologist was busy so I had to wait ~ 45 min. Finally after I got the epidural, things were more tolerable but I could still feel contractions on my R side, so I got an extra dose and that made my entire lower body numb (very strange sensation). I also had a reaction to the epidural as it lowered my blood pressure and made me nauseous so I had to be placed in trendelenberg position and was puking up the "ice chips" that was the only thing they could give me to eat/drink that entire day.
They checked me again around 7pm and I was only 6 cm dilated, so we told family to go home, rest, let our dogs out, etc.. but about 30 min later I felt more intense pressure and had gone from 6-9cm so quickly. DH had to call our family and tell them to turn around and come back as I don't even think they made it out of the hospital parking lot. Once I got to 10 cm, I did practice pushing w/ DH holding one leg (even though I had planned to keep DH at the head of the bed for fear of him passing out, but we really had no choice) and a nurse holding the other, meanwhile another nurse was looking out the window to see if she could see OB's car as my son was coming very quickly. Once OB got there (about 5-10 min later) she walked in and said that I had 3 pushes to get him out (talk about pressure, but I guess he was having major decelerations as he was coming through birth canal which thankfully I knew nothing about or I would have flipped out!). She ended up having to use a vacuum and he had a nice little bruise on his head, but thankfully he came out screaming mad with apgars of 9 and 9, and was the best 35th birthday present I could have given my DH as they share the same b-day.
All in all, I would do it again, and it is looking like I may have to, but I will DEFINITELY get my epidural BEFORE they break my water this time around.
GL and can't wait to hear your story!

I went in around 7 am. My OB/GYN gave me an internal and broke my water, then they hooked me up to pitocin. I got the epidural a few hours later (I think - don't remember timing exactly, but I was between 4-5 cm dilated). I've had 2 epidurals and they both hurt less than the contractions from pitocin! They were heaven. Once you have an epidural, you kind of just sit and relax until its time to push.
Babies were born at 2:48 and 3:03 pm. I had some pain right before I had to start pushing - I guess Owen's head was pressing on a nerve as he passed under my pelvic bone (ouch!). I had to deliver flat on my back / feet strapped in stirrups in the OR - pushing from this position sucks. It was much easier with DS#1 when I was pretty much sitting up. I was determined to avoid the c-section, though.
I didn't feel any need to push for Baby B...they used the vacuum to get her down. Zoe came out with a big round bump where they suctioned. I was so relieved to have them both out that I barely noticed.
They were delivered at 38wks 2 days, weighing in at 8lbs 7 oz and 7lbs 7 oz.
Try to relax....soon you'll be on the other side! Good luck!
I was induced at 37 weeks. I had been dilated to 5cm and on hospital bedrest for the previous 3 weeks. The pitocin was started at 430pm and they kept steadily increasing it. At 730pm, I was 6cm and my OB broke Baby A's water. Up until that point, the contractions were more than manageable (they had been worse during my 3 weeks in the hospital), but as soon as she broke my water, things got intense really fast. I was fully dilated by 930pm and my girls were born at 1020 and 1026pm. I was able to deliver them without an epidural.
Unfortunately, I tore badly in 3 places. The repair took close to 2 hours and was way worse than the labor and delivery combined!
Good luck! I hope Friday goes smoothly for you and you have a wonderful time meeting your little ones! It's an incredible experience!
Our IVF miracles arrived on 7/20/11 at 37 weeks after 3 weeks of hospital bedrest!

I had Cervadil 37w5d because my cervix was still long and closed. I went to L&D, they placed the Cervadil wafer and the twins were monitored for 2 hours. Everything was fine so they sent us home to wait for our induction the following day. They had instructed me to remove the wafer (comes on a string like a tampon) after 12 hours. Cervadil made me crampy but not consistently enough or strong enough for me to head back to L&D. They also said if I started contracting to come back -- duh.
We sat around the entire next day waiting for the phone call for my induction. It came at 1030pm. I was exhausted. I had only dilated 1cm from the Cervadil so my OB manually dilated my cervix to ~2cm and broke my water. The RN's started my Pitocin and told me I could have an epidural whenever I wanted (this was the plan from the beginning anyway). I laboured for 3 hours and had my epi placed. Laboured another 6.5 hours pain-free and pushed for 2 hours.
Both my guys' heads were either sunny-side up and transverse. My OB attempted to turn their heads but was unsuccessful a few times. Both boys ended up being born with the help of forceps. The pressure was pretty intense and scary but I had zero pain.
Good luck to you!
