When is everyone starting meats such as turkey?  We are just starting sitter foods and want to try meats... I read in a book you shouldnt start till 7 months!  Whats you opinions?

Re: MEATS?

  • We got the green light for meats this afternoon at T's 6 month visit...I've got a VERY old dr and is very old school....which is why I picked him. We love him and couldn't be happier. We will start meats this weekend probably!

  • I don't know if he'll ever get meat out of a can. It just looks nasty. lol

  • I baked LO some chicken the other day and pureed it. It was not bad actually. LO seemed to like the taste, but the texture was very new to her.
  • We won't be talking about it with the pedi until 9 months.  Because DD was a preemie we didn't start solids until 6 months.  We're still doing single fruits and veggies here.

  • We started about 2 weeks ago with blends. Like sweet potatoes and turkey. The texture of the meat alone is very strange and the flavor is AWFUL. I would start with blending it with a food you baby likes first.

  • That's a good question...I'm barely going to start solids and I will be starting with veggies then fruits, who knows when I will start meats
  • Pedi told us at the check up to start at 7 months. She started solids at 4 so I was a little surprised.

  • My pedi is a little modern, maybe?  He said I could give it to her now.  There was no restrictions on what I could give her from the beginning.  She's only had veggies so far, but I will probably give her some meat after we finish fruits.

Def no to that here as well. Homemade all the way, but I do that for the other foods too. I'm going to weep when the purees are over. I'm getting so good at being a baby food chef.
