Cloth Diapering

BG 4.0s leaking on infant girl?

i used BG 4.0s on my son and we loved them (from 4 weeks old until he got really mobile around 18m, when we switched to fitteds). Now I have a 6 week old girl and she has leaked out of every single one of them. The elastic is tight and the fit is good. I have a few Nicki's pocket diapers (love!!!) and she hasn't leaked out of any of those. Has anyone had fit problems with girls and the BG 4.0? I'm considering replacing some of my stash with Nicki's.

  • Are they saturated when they leak? What are you stuffing with?

  • Not saturated at all. It's like she urinates and it comes straight out. I know it's not a repelling issue though. It seems to be a fit issue, but more related to body type than size, if that makes sense?

How do you know it's not a repelling issue? That sounds exactly like a repelling issue.

  • When I pour water on the inserts, they immediately absorb

What about the suede cloth "lining" though? That could be not allowing the pee to get to the inserts.

ETA: and I'm pretty sure suede cloth needs some pressure against it to absorb, so just pouring water isn't a great test.

  • It's not the inserts that are repelling, it's the microsuede in the BG shell.

  • Ooohhh I didn't realize the lining was typically the problem. I'll try stripping them again. Thanks!
