TTC After a Loss

Insurance Question re:IUI/IVF

I have HPHC for my insurance provider. I had no idea what coverage they have for fertitly treatmenst so I thought I would ask prior to my Dr. appt tomorrow requesting some help TTC. They said that I am covered for Clomid and the generic version and for 6 IUI and 6 IVF treatments.  Both the IUI and IVF are per my lifetime..Is this the norm?? I am hoping I get my BFP before it comes to any of this, but i thought I should at least educate myself.

Thanks in advance

Re: Insurance Question re:IUI/IVF

  • Honestly, that's AWESOME insurance. I know a lot of insurance companies that don't offer any type of covered fertility assistance. The insurance through my work doesn't even offer it on their most expensive plan.

  • You're in MA like me where the law is that treatments must be covered by your insurance.  It's FABULOUS to be from MA for this reason.  :)  Now that doesn't mean though that you don't have some kind of deductible to meet first, so check on that.

  • You have very good insurance.  Mine will cover unlimited IUI, not does not cover anything leading up to IVF.

This! My insurance coverage is the same as yours. I'm very happy to live in Mass!

At least if I need to move forward with meds/IUI/IVF - I won't have to sell my house (j/k)

  • I am jealous of your insurance.  Congrats on it being so awesome

  • Holy moly - I'm jealous!!!  My insurance only covers 6 IUIs at 50%, and NOTHING toward IVF.  I don't think yours is the norm - it seems like much better!

  • Wow..thanks for all the responses..and to think (Yes, I am naive) that this wasn't alot..I assumed based on seeing so many siggy's with numerous IUI/IVF attempts that my insurance wasn"t that great..(again me being naive)...If I could share my insurance with you all I would...when I win the lottery I will start a fund to help others with fertility problems.
