Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Travel: If LO is sleeping for take off/landing

do you wake him/her to nurse/paci etc to avoid ear pain? The last time I traveled with LO, he fell asleep in the airport during our layover and then I wasn't sure if should wake him to nurse so he didn't have ear pain.

We have another flight this week, should I just let him sleep or wake him?

  • E almost always took her paci even in her sleep. If not asleep, she did the invisible paci so it worked either way.

  • No. We have flown with ds numerous times and dd 4 times (she is 4 months) and never wake them up. I have had 2 different doctors tell me ear problems with flying don't typically start until after they are 1 anyway.

  • First time I flew w/ LO, the captain got on the plane right behind me.  He told me to make sure he was sucking on something during descent/landing.  I asked about takeoff, and he said, nope, landing is what hurts babies the most.   We've stopped using the paci, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do next time (next weekend), but yes, I did make sure he had one in last time, even though he was asleep.
