Ever since I started my period again (about a month ago, my son is almost 6 months) my milk supply has plummeted!! I have tried just about everything and nothing seems to be working to get my supply back up. My son now eats solids pretty well but I know he still needs milk while I'm at work and I'm having a really hard time pumping enough. I'm worried he will get dehydrated. Suggestions on supplementing, I have read everything from formula to almond milk to goats milk.
Help!!
Re: Supplementing Breastmilk

This. Almond milk and goats milk do not serve the same function as formula.
I know exactly how you are feeling!! My son was 7 months before we ran out of breast milk and I wanted to continue breast feeding until a year old. What i did was supplement. I read the other's posts about not using milk; listen to them b/c his little tummy can't digest that yet. Also if i were you i'd do some reading up on supplementing breast and formula.
I had to wean my son off of breast milk and onto formula b/c he hated the taste of formula (And for good reason b/c that stuff is NASTY)! I would skimp him on 2 oz of breast milk and instead add in 2oz of formula. I would do that for a week and then skimp him on 4oz of breast and add formula and so forth...until he was settled in. Even then we had problems with the formula. Well, good luck! I would love to hear how it turned out!! Take care:)
