Cloth Diapering

Are GM nb dipes worth it?

Let me know your thoughts!  I am looking into newborn diapers for the next baby!  I had to use sposies with our first and I would rather not with our other children in the future.

Any other NB dipes that you love let me know! Thanks!

Re: Are GM nb dipes worth it?

  • I was a prefold girl and BG xs for my first. For my next I'll likely add some monkey snuggle NB or b4's and wool to the mix. Ok, and DD dynky.

  • I'm not really sure as I didn't CD DS #1 as a newborn.  I've been building a newborn stash for DS#2 and I would say half are GM fitteds that I've snagged the last few months.  They are super squishy and cute and from what I've heard, they work really well.  They come with two soakers as opposed to one like most NB fitteds.  I'm not sure if they exceed any more inexpensive brands, but I decided to go with a fair amount of them along with prefolds and some NB AIOs/AI2s.  :)

  • My son (8lbs, 6 oz) was in newborn diapers for only a few weeks and then into size smalls.  We mainly used prefolds and covers.  I personally think GM NBs are too expensive to build a whole stash, but one or two would be fun as show off diapers.

  • honestly - i loved my NB fitteds :) Since almost every single diaper is poopy, it is nice to never have it ever come out the side (which sometimes seems to happen with PFs) The GMs are exceptionally expensive, I think. However, you can recoup a little bit of the cost afterwards. Monkey Snuggles, B4s, and Mutts also worked really well. LO was 8.9 at birth, and outgrew them really quickly, but I will likely still do fitteds with the next... (I just ordered a GM NB the other day Embarrassed)
  • I loved my one Muttaqin fitted NB!  Next time I am going to have more.  They actually stocked newborn today.  And they are half as much as GM and free shipping to US.

  • They were worth it for me. They still fit dd, but she pees through them fairly quickly. Gms and mutts were my favorite nbs and I tried a ton of different dipes!

  • I dont have any NB GM's but I have a Monkey Snuggles and love it.

As for other NB diapers, we use Lil Joeys, BG xs, FB xs and NB GroVia. We really like them! Prefolds were not for us.. They all still fit C at 6 weeks old and almost 9lbs. But she will grow out of the Lil Joeys soon. We'll have quite a bit more time in the others though!

When C started sleeping longer stretches through the night, we needed something with more absorbancy. I stuffed the FB xs with gDiaper gCloth inserts and that works good. I LOVE Thirsties Duo Diapers they have worked great!

  • I love(d) our GM nb's.  She's just barely out of them at 13ish pounds.  I used a combo of GM, BSRB, Thirsties and BG AIO xs for my newborn stash. It's worked out really well!

  • I didn't use GM fitteds with DD, but fitteds were for sure our favorite.  I have stored up some GM fitteds for the next baby.
