This may be really silly, but crib mattresses have to be purchased separately right? I ordered a stanley young america crib.... where do you buy a mattress...at a mattress store like sleepys or something? Are they all a pretty standard size?
You can buy them at any baby store and they're a pretty standard size. The difference comes with foam and coil mattresses. Check out what baby bargains says about those...I can't remember off the top of my head.
Yes, you have to buy them separately-- they are all pretty standard size but can vary slightly. If your crib is going to come soon I would maybe wait and set it up and measure it, then get a mattress. You can get them at BRU or online through places like amazon. I'm not sure if they sell them at regular mattress stores.
I think we are going with an IKEA crib but the width of the crib is 27.5 inches, and the width of the mattress we had registered for is listed at 27.75, so those little increments could make a difference. We are going back to IKEA to measure the crib ourselves and then go measure the mattress in person to see if it looks like it will fit.

Unfortunately, yes. We bought ours on ebay actually but they sell them at baby stores too. The baby bargains book just says to look for a firm mattress.. they're all pretty much the same though.

Yup- seperate but as said, most of it all is pretty standard.
Nicolita - We have an IKEA crib too, and once we set it up, there is info in it telling us what size matteress to get. And it's a standard size! We got the Colgate Classica II (recommended by Baby Bargains) and it fits just fine.
