I said SS because I believe in it in theory but not in practice. I think that mistakes have been made to many times and innocent people have been executed.

I think I believe in it but on the other hand I am not sure I think it is ok for a judge to decide someone needs to die. I am some what twisted on the idea. But I did say yes.
I voted yes, but I live in Canada where we don't have cp any more. In my warped mind though, I think sending certain people (rapists, child malestors, etc) over to Korea/ Tibet/ etc with cocaine or something equally as bad and them getting caught and sent to jail there would be a much better punishment. But I'm going with the hollywood / sterotyped vision of these jails. Just seems a little better then the cushy CA jails. Sorry for the ramble;.
It's not that I don't think people can deserve it, or even that there aren't people we're better off not having in the world. I just don't think it's wise for the government to participate in it.
Interestingly, it's becoming harder for a lot of states to do it now. I saw a story about it the other day. Many places are using lethal injection, but there's been a shortage in the availability of a drug that is commonly used. The manufacturer stopped making it. Also, other countries as well as individual companies within some other countries don't want to be associated with aiding executions with the substitute drugs. The reason being, some substitutes that states are using are not intended for that purpose, and of course a lot of other countries don't use capital punishment.

This exactly! I am not sure you can be 100% sure someone is guilty. And 1 innocent person dying is not ok.

After having someone in my immediate family murdered, I sure as Hell do think they should be dead. I my be alittle biased due to the fact one of the guys who did it is out walking the streets for good behavior. Because you get rewarded in prison for behaving as you are suppose to.

I voted no only because it has been proven to have no influence on criminal activity.
I did a report on this in one of my classes a couple years ago, and also found this to be true.
I agree with this. Aside from that it is even more expensive to execute over life in prison. I feel like its just silly to keep throwing money at a "solution" that doesn't even work.

I voted SS. I don't want to say no because I feel if someone ever killed a family member I'd probably feel a lot more strongly about it than I do now.
I also wonder if in cases such as Casey Anthony if having the death penalty on the table makes the jury a lot more hesitant to convict. I think she would have gotten off anyway, but it's much easier to get someone out of jail after 20 years if it's discovered they're innocent than bring them back from the dead.
