So I just found out that I am pregnant. While I am very familiar with the delivery part of pregnancy due to my line of work, I don't know much about what happens at the beginning! How long have Las Vegs doctors been wanting you to wait before you first appointment? What happens at your first appointment? Thanks ladies!

Re: I'm pregnant!
Congratulations!!!!!
I had my first appointment at 8 weeks and they brought me back at 9 weeks to do my dating ultrasound. I then had appointments every 4 weeks until I hit 33 weeks and start going every 2 weeks. Now that I am 35 weeks and had some slight issues come up, I'll be going every week until baby comes.
After my 9 week ultrasound, every appointment was pretty much the same:
-sign in, sit down, wait, get called back, step on the scale, walk to the room, check blood pressure, go pee in a cup, go wait in room for OB and talk about any concerns. At around 14/15 weeks, my OB started listening to the baby's heartbeat and at around 25 weeks, they also started measuring my belly.
-The only other things they do are a vaginal exam (usually around 12 weeks or so/give or take) to make sure that you don't have any STDs or abnormal cells (it's all pretty routine like a PAP smear)
- At around 13-15 weeks, you have the option of getting tested for down syndrome and what not (I opted out so can't give you much info) and I believe somewhere in between they do typical bloodwork
- At around 18-20 weeks, they'll most likely do an anatomy scan and check measurements of the baby in the ultrasound.
-At around 26-28 weeks, the doctor will probably have you take the glucose tolerance test (I didn't find it so bad to be honest) unless he feels that there may be a risk of diabetes earlier in pregnancy
This has been my schedule of events so I'm sure every doctor does it different as well. At my 36 week appointment, I'll get checked vaginally for STREP B and he may start to check to see if I'm dialated.
Hope this helps a little with what to expect even if it may vary slightly.
(random side note question, if I am scheduled for induction at SPring Valley Hospital, do I show up at the scheduled time?)
Thank you so much faithhopeinlove! I had no idea what to expect and your answer helped a lot! My appointment is in 1 week and my hubby and I are very excited (it's our first baby). I believe @ Spring Valley if they give you a time, that is when you show up, but I'll double check that with some of my girls down there for you :-) Again, thank you soooo much!
Oh wow, sounds like you'll have a great family support. That's definitely such a blessing! I think it's wonderful for your husband to be a stay at home dad (although I understand the misfortune in losing a job) and I am pretty envious that we are not able to do the same. I wish you the best of luck in these coming weeks if I'm not able to get on much. (I may go into labor at any time and have debated going to labor and delivery every day this week... eek)
If you click on your screen name, it should bring you to your bio. There should be tiny link on the top that says "Edit my avatar & signature" under the signature box, this is where you paste the code. Hopefully it works. I have a hard time explaining it without going through the visual myself.
