I had a hairdresser in LA that I LOVED. She was amazing. Expensive but amazing and I still try to see her if I am remotely near LA. So it was hard moving here and trying to find someone who worked for me. I've been through 7 hairdressers here and 7th time was the charm. I was very happy with her and her work was great. I've only seen her about 3 times and was slated to go this Saturday. Then I get called that she is no longer with the salon and naturally they won't tell me where she went! ARRRRRRGHHHHH!! I spent FIVE YEARS looking for someone I was really happy with, finally found her and she up and left. I am hoping this was of her own volition and she will be contacting her clients soon enough because I haven't heard a peep. So frustrating. So now, because of an upcoming trip where I really need to get my hair cut and colored beforehand, I'm on to hairdresser #8. Right before family pics too. Seriously. Majorly peeved.

UPDATED: I figured out where she might have gone from our prior conversations (one of the other hairdressers I had seen opened his own place near that salon and they were buddies) and was going to call them today. Turns out they called home and yep, she is there and I'm still booked for Saturday morning!! Awesome! Love it when things work out. Now I get to call the other salon to cancel.

I hate that that is the way that industry works. Don't salons realize that all the have to do is hire good stylists and then they won't have to worry about "losing customers"? Some will leave and their clients will follow, sure, but if you hire someone great... their clients will follow them. Hope she took some numbers with her when she left and I hope yours was one of them. Have you tried to google her? If a new salon is advertising her, it might come up.

The FB Thing is a great way to keep track of your stylist. My stylist added me a couple of years ago. It's nice because I have long hair and only go a few times a year, but by having her as a friend on FB, I can see when she's out of town/travelling/on vacay and book my infrequent appts around it and...if she ever left the salon (I doubt she will it's one of the three best in town), then I'll be able to find her easily. I've been with her for 10 years and had my previous stylist for 16 yrs before that...would never have changed, but moved 4 hrs away from home, so had to!
