What does your LO like for breakfast?

I am out of ideas for Owen, he only ever wants waffles or pancakes.  I usually make a big batch of both and freeze them over the weekend so I can use a whole wheat mix or sneak in veggies :-p  He will always eat yogurt with them or some applesauce, but I feel like there has to be something better.  I have tried french toast, cinnamon toast, toast with jelly, eggs, cheerios and bananas (or any fruit), and bagels.  He has no interest in any of them, the only other thing he likes is cereal bars, like NutriGrain bars.  I feel like he needs some variety, especially as lunch is a whole different battle.  Any ideas?

Re: What does your LO like for breakfast?

  • Holly's usual breakfast "entrees" are mini waffles (Earth's Best brand), mini pancakes (Eggo, usually), a PB&J sandwich, scrambled eggs, or cereal. Occasionally we'll do turkey sausage, or toast/English muffins with jelly and/or PB.

She always has fruit as well, and usually some cheese or something. But we're pretty heavy on the breakfast carbs and fruit in our rotation. Hey, at least your waffles and pancakes are homemade! I need to start doing that..

You could always do non-traditional breakfast stuff--cheese quesadillas, other types of sandwiches & wraps, etc.

  • We do:

    PB&J sandwiches with fruit/yogurt

Dry cereal works better with my LO

    Hard boiled eggs

    cheese stick and fruit

whole wheat bagels with PB and a little jelly

  • Caleb likes muffins. I have bought the mini muffins, but I usually try to bake them myself. I make pumpkin muffins, blueberry or  banana bread. Biscuits are usually a good one too, he likes them with Nutella or just plain butter.

He won't eat eggs, but loves breakfast potatoes and bacon. :) We buy Turkey bacon and occasionally he gets a few pieces.

No plain cheerios, but he loves Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Apple Cinnamon Cheerios. Frosted Mini Wheats with a Touch of Fruit was a big hit. (I think we had the blueberry one)

Caleb will kill any fruit. We've been eating a lot of fresh peaches, fresh berries and clementines lately. He'll also drink a smoothie.

ETA: He only eats dry cereal, and sometimes he'll have cheese with breakfast too!

  • Wesley likes cereal (with OR without milk), fruit, pancakes, sausage, ham, toast, biscuits, chicken, waffles, sometimes eggs, and cereal bars.
  • Oh, and oatmeal. He LOVES the fruit and cream oatmeal.

I think she eats a lot of pancakes and waffles at daycare, but we never do them at home. Usually it's:

cereal with milk (she prefers it heated up)

    regular oatmeal or oat bran

    yogurt w/fruit (and sometimes granola)

    eggs & toast

  • Maddie is kind of the same way, waffles and pancakes are a staple around here. She does love cinnamon toast, so I do that a couple of times a week. Cereal bars if we're in a hurry. She always eats fruit with her waffles/pancakes (usually blueberries unless we're out) and sometimes sausage. She also loves muffins or blueberry bread, so I make those occasionally. Sometimes I make her eat scrambled eggs but it's a fight.

But yeah. Every morning it's some sort of carb, fruit and milk.
