crying in the middle of the night

in D.C. Area Babies
My 16 month old wakes up every night for 5 mins hysterically crying and then falls right back to sleep. Does this happen to anyone else? I don't know if I should be concerned

    Ds does not do it EVERY night but a few nights a week he does...It breaks my heart but I look at him on the monitor and he is either still sleeping as he cries or by the time I get my glasses on he has gone back to sleep.  I think its bad dreams but not sure....we aren't too worried about it!!

    At least once a week DD cries out (though not hysterically) at night.  Sometimes multiple times.  She always lies right back down though.  I'm not sure if it's growing pains or dreams but I've read (from Babycenter's monthly emails) that it's normal.

    DS just started doing the same thing this week.  Luckily it was only once last night, but it seems to be going away...
