I tried searching but nothing came up - sorry if this is asked a lot.
I just installed the Chicco Keyfit 30 base in my car, and it's completely snug. No movement at all where it's connected via LATCH. When I put the carseat in, the carseat does move side to side within the base. Not a lot, but it does move. I'm just wondering if this is normal, or if the seat or base have an issue.
(A side question from DH is: if the base is completely snug and not moving at all, is it necessary to still get it inspected? I say yes, but he is interested in other opinions....)
Re: Keyfit 30 moving inside base?
Post on car-seat.org, the techs will have the kind of answer your DH is looking for.
Our chicco had a little bit of movement too. Not much, but a tad. The base was nice and tight w/ latch too.
Are you using the middle seat? If so, does your car have middle latch or are your borrowing from the sides? Not all seats and cars allow borrowing. If you are borrowing, read the chicco manual (or call them) and also your cars manual to make sure it is ok. Even though it can be tight, latch borrowing isn't the best idea.
I didn't have our infant seat installed/checked by CHP (Ca HWY Patrol) but I would have, if I had any concern. They installed our conv. seat and said the chicco was in perfectly, but they would have it installed it in the middle using the seatbelt VS the side seat with latch.
