teething and puking?

Emma has a decrease in appetite, and at least once a day she throws up an entire bottle for the last three days. She isn't fussy really at all, and no fever. I think I might see where a tooth is coming in on the bottom next to the other two but I am not sure. Has any of your LOs had these issues during teething or do you think it is something else entirely. We FF.

Re: teething and puking?

  • I think a decreased appetite can be normal for the few days surrounding the tooth, but not the puking. That is something I'd look into more just to be sure.

  • LO cut his first two teeth last week.  He threw up probably 3x a day for 3 days early last week, big projectile vomits.  The day that I first felt the tooth through his gums was the first day he didn't throw up.  It seemed to be the teething that caused it, there was nothing else wrong with him.

I hope she cuts those teeth soon and starts feeling better.

  • Claire had a tooth push through on Saturday and for a few hours she was spitting up constantly. Not a while lot of volume, but for a kid who rarely spits up it was a lot. We went through 3 pairs of pj's (her) and 4 tanktops (me) before she fell asleep.

  • What's peculiar is that with her first two teeth it happened the same week as her four month shots so she was just super fussy, no puking. I'm going to watch it close and watch for a fever. And google the he!! out of it.

  • I actually just mentioned this to a friend on FB. My LO is definitely teething, because I finally feel the two bottom teeth coming in, and she has been eating a bit less the last week, and then today besides being fussier than normal, she also super duper spit up, all day long. My guess is that she is drooling so much that she is swallowing a lot of it and it is making her feel gross, and adding volume to her belly, therefore the super duper spit up.

Oh and she also had a poop in the middle of the night last night or the night before, and she had already had her one a day that day, and hasn't pooped at night since being a newborn.

  • I was just thinking the same thing. My DD is 6 months old and has several teeth coming through at the same time. Up until three days ago she was sleeping from 7-7 (dream feed at 11) and is now spitting up a ton and waking up throughout the night. I was starting to google if it was possible for them to get reflux at this age. She has never had problems with that before but it just seems like a big change in her throwup/spit up frequency. Not really sure what to change in the routine to help her.....
