Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Cruising with an almost 1 year old

Any suggestions on things to bring besides the obvious (diapers, sunscreen, sippy cup etc)?

Re: Cruising with an almost 1 year old

  • We went when my son was 7 months. We took Tylenol, Motrin, benadryl. We called the pedi and got doses. There is no medication on board for babies/toddlers. We brought an umbrella stroller. He slept in bed with us so we didn't need the pack n play. He also showered with us. The shower was small. We brought our own food for him. Dont introduce anything she has never had. Depending on the cruise line, she can't use the pools but you do need swim diapers for off the ship. We had a lot of fun. It was easy then because he wasn't mobile yet and was contient in the stroller.

  • Sun hat & lots of snacks!!

Have you tried those packets of baby food with the cap on top? DS loves those & my friend said they were super easy for the cruise they just went on.

  • a blow up pool unless your ship allows swimming without being potty trained.
  • Thanks Ladies. I called and kids in diapers are not allowed in the pools. I will def think about bringing a small blow up pool. Thank you for the suggestion! She eats all table food so we should be good in that dept.

  • I forgot to add...bags for poop diapers so the cabin doesn't smell. We went on royal Caribbean and they had a toy room and play group times. Also toy rental for your cabin. They also charged the baby as 3rd person in room which sucked

We are also on all table foods, but you should check out those packets with the cap. DS loves them!! He sucks them right down!! They are a quick easy snack when we are out & about. My 3 year old niece also loves them, so I don't think it's actually "baby" food.  :)

  • I don't have any direct advice but wanted to say to bring way more diapers than you think you'll need.  DH's cousin just took her 1.5 yr old on a cruise (not sure which cruise line) and underestimated the number of diapers.  They ran out 2 days before the cruise ended and diapers onboard were something crazy like $5 PER DIAPER!

Bags are a must have!  We are cruising with Norwegian.  I think we paid an extra $150 for her.  We originally were going to cruise on the new Royal Caribbean ship and she was going to be something like $700!!!  We'll do that cruise when she is older and able to enjoy everything they have on board for kids.

oh jeez, the oasis/allure was gonna be our first one with LO but I guess not! they have the nursery, that's why, but RC is supposed to be adding more nurseries to its ships.

We're going on this in November when E is about 13 months. As we are taking MIL Tongue Tied E is actually booked as her cabinmate, thus not paying extra for E specifically. E will, however, be in our cabin.

I'm already concerned about how she'll sleep on this trip...I just don't see her taking to the pnp.
