I clicked on this board mistakenly, but had to stay when I saw the title of your post. Does your son have GERD? A severe case, I assume?
As you probably have gathered, Reglan/metaclopromide is an old line drug with lots of serious side effects. I was put on this myself for my own GERD and gastroparesis and had almost instant and severe side effects such that I was off it 24 hours later. (Restlessness, twitchiness and spasms, really made me kind of crazy, spacy, etc.) Its also been the subject of lawsuits due to some of the extreme side effects that can cause permanent damage. (That said, it does work well, I personally had symptom relief after only 2 doses in 8 hours, but the cure can be worse than the disease. . .)
Your child is only a month old; have you tried other drugs/treatments before the doc said to try Reglan? Have you asked about domperidone/Motilium? Its a drug that is available OTC all over the world (including Canada) but only available from compounding pharmacies in the US. I'm on it and know many people (adults and children, but not infants) from support groups who've had amazing success with it: it functions similarly to Reglan but without the nasty side effects. I *believe* it can be used in infants as well (nursing mothers frequently use it to assist in breast feeding), you might ask your doctor (or another doc if you want a second opinion about the Reglan) about it.
Yes, he has GERD. She pretty non-chalantly prescribed the drug and didn't really go over many of the side-effects. I'm glad that I looked it up when I went home (and had my husband look it up). After I googled, we read about all the side-effects, and I don't think I'll be filling the prescription. Obviously, he's only 1 month old and although we've tried many things to help his reflux, he's still gaining weight (very quickly, actually!) and while I hate to see him in pain... I don't want to put him on something so severe if he'll grow out of this.
p.s. Would this make you wonder about your pediatrician?
My first child was on it and it was a mistake for us. It does have some nuerological side effects, my son was a very stiff baby, and after a few months it caused convulsions ( they looked like seizures) It wasnt until multiple trips to neurologists and the er that an er doc recommended stopping the reglan and the seizures went away. On the other hand, he was also on Zantac, it didnt stop the vomiting, but it did make it less acidy so that it didnt burn his throat. He took that until at about 9 months the zantac stopped working and they put him on prevacid, which at the age of 3 he is still on. If you are not against meds, personally I would find something like zantac so that the acid doesnt burn her esphogus. Good luck and keep us posted.

Personally, I would not be putting an infant on the drug. I believe the side effects are even worse for children: https://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-6177-Reglan+Oral.aspx?drugid=6177&drugname=Reglan+Oral
