Bloating

I feel like I'm gaining weight but in fact I haven't even gained a pound yet. I'm only 5wks along but I feel extremely bloated. Why does this happen? Any ideas on how to minimize or get rid of this feeling?

Re: Bloating

  • I have no clue how to get rid of it . . . just that mine gets worse throughout the day and some days I have to wear my be-bands to make my pants comfy =)

Perhaps the bloat just prepares us for what we will look like with baby in a few months.

  • I have been very bloated throughout my pregnancy...though the bloat is looking more like the makings of a little bump.  My husband took a picture of me and it was the first time I said, "Wow, I look pregnant!" Smile  But like you, it does come and go and size of the bloat varies day to day.  Makes figuring out what to wear so much fun! ha!

  • I don't know how to get rid of it... I just wear looser tank tops with something over it to hide it a little bit!  But my bloat is huge and makes me look like I am a few months along already.

  • The bloat just doesn't stop!  Mine varires everyday, if I eat more seems to blimp up more.  When I finally can go to the bathroom it goes down.  I cant button the top button on most of my work pants!  Been wearing a lot of dresses.

  • I don't know if you can get rid of it completely.... but it has to to do with water retention, constipation:

    • Eat prunes, dry fruit, berries, and other things that will help you go
    • Caffeine is good for some instant help if you need it, but obviously don't use that regularly, just if it's real bad
    • Drink lots of fluids - warm decaf, tea, water
    • Add benefiber to stuff you drink
  • Essentially, you're not digesting food like you would normally, there's just not enough room in there, your body's adjusting. That's my understanding.
