I am expecting twins in October and having a hard time with girl names. Originally, I had chosen Ava and Ella, but my husbands best friend is expecting her first a month before me and not only took my first name, but also took the middle name. She told people that I no longer wanted the name. So, I'm going with Ella. Do you have any suggestions for a second name? I obviously like Ava and Ella. Also, I believe I'll use Francesca as the middle name for the 2nd name (after my mom). Suggestions?
Thank you TTCAL and IF board.

I never understood the "They took my name" bit. It's not yours or theirs, it's a name. It's pretty much public property. You don't have to not use it just because someone else used it. I guarantee their will be other Ellas in her school, camp, brownie troop, whatever. If you love it, then go with it.
Otherwise, Olivia is lovely.
You could always keep Ava.
Other suggestions - Lily, Ada, Mia, Anna, Lila, Lucy, Maya, Charlotte, Audrey, Eve, Grace, Kate
How about Avery instead of Ava and her NN can be Ava?
I always thought if I have girls twins I would name them Avery and Emma.
I also love Olivia with Liv as a NN.
I'd go with your first instinct and keep the names you had picked out. But if you want to use a different name with a similar sound, I'd suggest Ara.
Like other posters, I do not really like Ella as an independent name. I'd name the girls Eleanor and Avalon, and call them Ella and Ava.
I love those names.
With Ella, I like these: Grace, Claire, Olivia, Rose, Sara, Lily, Jane.
Baby Boy born sleeping at 20 weeks.
I'm with those who've said they prefer Ella as a NN. Have you considered Isabella, Arabella, Annabella, Daniella, Gabriella, Mirabella?
If you stick will Ella as the full name, I'd go with 2 simple names.
Ella & Amy
Ella & Halle
Ella & Fae
Ella & Mia
Ella & Maya
Ella & Mya
Ella & Lucy
I like Ella and Eva.
Ella and Olivia sounds cute together as well.
I also like Ella and Juliet. What about Ella and Julia?
Ella & Grace
Ella & Lila
Ella & Lily
(I love the name Ella)
