My son has dairy, egg, and peanut allergies. We have yet to try a real pasta (he hates rice pasta and every other substitute). My fear is the fact that most pasta boxes say "may contain eggs." However, I just called up Harris Teeter b/c I did NOT see the warning on the box and they said they do a full equipment wash down. Has anyone every had a reaction with pasta due to the possibility of eggs being present?
Re: Egg allergy and pasta
We've had good luck with San Giorgio pastas (in the red box). DS#3 is allergic to milk, egg. peanut, tree nuts and sesame. San G is the only one I've found that is processed in the same facility vs. on equipment that also processes milk and egg.
When Harris Teeter said wash down does that mean just water?
Pasta is a hard one for sure.
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
there are a lot of pastas that actually don't have eggs in it.
i either use eden pasta which is super healthy - my son loves the alphabet one.
or spelt pasta
we also used this one before
and the last
for my mac&chreese pasta
never had issues with any of these, but i have never called to find out about CC and my son has a sever egg allergy.
