Trying to Get Pregnant

DH is evil :)

Hey ladies. I havn't posted much but I did make an intro a month or so ago, but now I'm planning to participate more as DH and I are getting closer to TTC. The timing of our TTC is still a little up in the air. DD is 7 months old now, I was hoping to TTC when she was about 9 months, I'd ideally like the babies 1.5-2 years apart. The only thing that may put us on hold is DH's job situation. He's waiting to hear back from a promising interview he had a few weeks ago. If he gets this job we'll be ready to go in august! If he doesn't, then we'll be waiting until he finds something else.

We were talking about our timing last week and DH got really excited when he realized that if we start trying in august and are successful right away, we'll be due right around BIL's wedding. DH has been trying to find a way out of this wedding since they got engaged, now he is dead set on TTC in august so he has a reason to get out of the wedding. As happy as I would be to not have to go to BIL's wedding (H's brother, marrying a girl we really don't like), I think I would feel kind of guilty knowingly TTC just in time to miss it. On the other hand, we knew we wanted the kids 1.5 years apart when I was KU w/DD and before they planned thier wedding, so I guess its just a coincidence.

I told DH we probably won't get pregnant right away so the chances of being due the week (or even month) of thier wedding really isn't too likely, but we'll try! haha.

Has anyone else tried or avoided getting pregnant at a certain time so that you would or wouldn't be due around a certain date? With DD I knew I wanted a fall baby and I wanted our birthdays to be close, So we started trying as close to 40 weeks before that as possible and got pregnant right away so it worked out just the way I wanted. I know we probably won't be as lucky this time around, but its fun to think about. Smile

My sil did this, what a ***!

We are going to avoid TTC in December, since we have a wedding we are participating in in August the next year. We are also going to avoid TTC in April so as to avoid xmas baby. This is, of course the plan unless we have TTTC then who cares.

Sorry but that sounds like a really terrible reason to start TTC.

Ok I guess...welcome and good luck. I think waiting until your DH has a stable job is a good idea. Also, your DD is adorable!!!!

As far as your question...The only thing I thought about as far as time of year is that it would be really uncomfortable to be 9mo pregnant in like August, but it's not much more than a thought...it'd be nice to be on maternity leave in the spring because of the weather- again it's just a thought though I'd be happy to gp any time of year :)

  • While we wouldn't hold off TTC for this reason, I am scared to have a winter baby should I get KU'd in March, April, May, June or July. Winter in Montana keeps you indoors pretty consistently. Not really possible to dress a baby for -25 degrees. I'm afraid I'd have a pretty nasty case of cabin fever during my maternity leave.

That said, we'll start TTC in September, so if I'm not KU'd by March, I'm pretty sure I'll just be happy to get a BFP regardless of the winter baby issue.

Well like I said, that's not really our reason for trying then. That was our plan before BIL even got engaged. Our reason for trying then is because of how we'd like our children spaced. It was just a (happy) coincidence when we realized that if we did concieve right away our due date would be right around the wedding and we could possibly have an easy excuse to not go.  I would never just be like "hmmm how can we get out of this wedding? eh, we could just have another kid that week!" haha.

  • Ha! I know what you mean :-) Every month I think about what a baby 9 mo from now would mean..and all the ups and downs of the possibilities :-) I've just tried to avoid Christmas, I always felt bad for kids with exmas bdays, so I wanted to avoid it. But if I'm still not pregnant by the next 9mo before exmas, screw it, I'm still TTC! :P GL to you!

  • I would love for our baby to be born in June or July since I am a college student and it would be nice to be on summer vacation and not worry about finals or clinicals (I'm a nursing student).

But, since we started trying in Jan, we don't really care when our baby is born. We'll be happy with a healthy baby any time :)

  • After 13 cycles, and no BFP, I'm well past caring what month I get KU in. I will gladly take my baby winter, spring, summer or fall, with no care at all about weddings, holidays, etc. GL to you though. It seems a bit harsh to purposely try to avoid a wedding, but many of us on here know that you really can't plan when you will get KU.

  • Don't they say something like..."Want to see God laugh? Just tell him your plans". If I could have had a say, I would be a mom to a 4 month old right now.. Good luck.
