Cloth Diapering

Need help w/ overnight

My son has never been able to sleep through wetting his diaper.  We've tried everything in our very basic CD stash (BG and FB pockets with regular or hemp inserts) as well as disposables, and wet diapers still bug him too much.  I need a recommendation for some option that will be quick drying - leaks aren't the issue, just feeling wet at all.  Fleece liners?  Wool?  Other?  Thanks!

Re: Need help w/ overnight

  • My LO screams bloody murder when she wets her diaper during the day or whenever she is awake, but at night we do a fitted diaper with a wool cover and she sleeps pretty good.  She will wake when it's time to eat and I'll put her in a fresh diaper, but it doesnt seem to wake her just because she's wet.  I don't know how she'll do when STTN is longer than 5 hours, though!

  • wool isn't going to help because that's to keep the diaper from leaking. It doesn't go against baby to keep him dry.  We had good luck with fleece lienrs (just cut up some cheap fleece or even a fleece baby blanket - no need to sew edges as it will not fray).  However if the BGs aren't working, I can't imaginet hat anything else will b/c the BGs are pretty miraculous at wicking the moisture away from baby.  Are you sure its the wetness, and not something esle - like discomfort when urinating (a UTI maybe)?  I'm jsut trying to think what could make him that uncomfortable, even with stay dry material next to his skin.

  • for clarification, when he wets and then cries and you change him, are the BGs and FBs wet to the touch?

Damp, sometimes, but certainly never wet.  As for the UTI, well, I don't think he has any symptoms other than he pees really frequently (but he always has).
