Uh, yes. Are you in City of Atlanta? They are even worse b/c of the water and sewer increases we've had since 2008. We're getting another increase on July 1st, if you are in the CoA.
Part of the problem is that the City of Atlanta and parts of Fulton are under a FEDERAL mandate to upgrade the seriously old sewer infrastructure. Thus all the nutty tunneling that's been going on under the city for the last six years. Stormwater drainage and sewer updates are the top priority. And y'all are gonna pay for it.
Basically, if the upgrades aren't performed by a prescribed date, massive fines will results. This article tells you how old it is and that the costs are applied to Sandy Springs because it used to be part of Atlanta.
It could be worse....you could be in Dekalb which has the same issues and then your (actually their) pipes crap out on you.
We had to fix it ourselves and went 6 feet into where Dekalb is suppose to cover just to make sure it never happens again....all to the tune of $15k. And legally it is their fault but after talking to a lawyer it will take about 7-years of long court battles to get the money back. Thanks Dekalb. You rock.
Our City of Atlanta water/sewage bill averages $90 per month. To put that in perspective, I work full-time, DH travels M-F, we don't water our lawn, and we don't wash our cars at home.
My parent's water bill out in Paulding averages $25 a month, and they use a lot more water than we do.
Also, as I think Care99 posted, another 12% increase goes into effect in July.
I hate the city of Atlanta, but I hate a long commute more.

Wow, you guys are making our decision to stay in cobb an easy one!!
seriously, is that all? The sewage alone is $172. The water is only like $60. We are in a townhouse with a mis-management company. I am seriously unhappy with some BS they pulled right now.
My parents are in Fulton and their water bill last month was $700. SEVEN hundred dollars. They are putting in an irrigation something or other to help with it in the future, because what they are doing is charging the water at the sewage rate or vice versa, and it is atrocious.

Re: Fulton Cty girls
Carrie, yes we are in Sandy Springs and sewage is a $172 line item. Seriously?? EVERY MONTH??
Add this to the list of reasons this move was a huge mistake.

ETA: AND, here's this: the water bills are slated to go up on July 1 as part of that mandate.

Yikes. I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was that high. Talk about a budget buster!
Are you in a house or a sub division with an HOA?
When I had my condo in Buckhead, we were billed as one whole community and our rate differed. I think it helped us.

Our water/sewer bill for city of atlanta is between $90-$120 a month. It's pretty high considering.
