So, um, lightning crotch?

I know y'all (hlakes) have said this is varicose veins, right? So what was the pain like? I have this weird occasional throbbing - it sort of feels like a muscle pull, but it ain't where any muscles are. Is this the lightning crotch of which you speak? Oh, and it only happens on one side.

Re: So, um, lightning crotch?

  • sciatic nerve pain

not to scare you but it gets worse.  the cure is birth.  although a massage by someone who knows what they are doing helps.  i had it with colton...no fun.

I doubt it's sciatica just because of where it's located. TMI, but it's actually pain in part of the vulva. It's nowhere near my back or my sacrum. I thought Heather or SLW had said something about it being vein pain...

I think I remember that was 2 seperate issues but I could be wrong.  Seems like those support belts are supposed to help?
  • Sounds like it could be ...I have a vericose vein.  Its big rope like vein running up my left leg all the way to the vajayjay:-) the pain is more throbbing and not constant...almost stinging.  especially when I stand up after laying or sitting (legs up for a while).  I've had it with each of my kids.  each time its started earlier and hurt more.  I have been wearing a support stocking which helps ALOT. Good news is that it does go away once baby comes to town.

I have siatic pain also which is only on one side butin the back not in the crotch/leg.

  • I had a sharp shooting pain down there during the 2nd tri with both kids. Doc said it was extra pressure messing up bloodflow and as things shift it would go away and it did. I also had BAD sciatica w/ both kids- that pain was in my lower back down into my hip and gradually worked its way all the way down to my toes. Dr gave me stretches for it (which I can email to anyone who wants it) and that did help up until the last month with Sophie- then it got really bad. I was basically stuck in a recliner after that... it was way too much pain walking around.  Hang in there... hope it goes away soon.

  • I think I have the same pain :( I had it at the end of the 2nd pregnancy and it came back for my third at 19 weeks! After some research, it looks like I have pubic bone pain, but it's not as bad as what the previous poster has. I'm ordering a support belt soon (I showed my hubby a pic of it and he said it looks like a jock strap- the flowers on it convinced him it's for women) and hopefully it will help. For me, it's a shooting pain on the left side only of my vagina. It's awful. My midwife showed me a diagram and explained that my baby loves to be on my bladder, which pushes against the pubic bone. That's why the pain comes and goes for me. If he moves, I feel relief. However, as he gets bigger I know the pain will stay like it did for my last one.
