Random wipes/rash ointment received at shower

Did any of you get random wipes or rash ointment as a gift? As in brand names youve never heard of? I am wondering if I should use them or just go buy what was on my registry and had read about were good brands.

  • What kinds did you get?  Google them maybe?   Mostly people only give things that they've used and really liked themselves..

  • Different kids react differently to different products.  I would keep them so that you have a back-up in case it turns out that the ones you chose do not work for you.

We got a 16pack of Huggies Supreme (which is totally fine, I registered for Huggies wipes) but we also got Care Bears soft cream baby wipes (two 80 packs).  Then we got Baby's Butt Aid, and Boudreaux's Butt Paste.

With wipes, I never noticed a difference, whatever we had on hand worked. DD doesn't have sensitive skin though. For diaper rashes we used Butt Paste and A&D ointment.

  • I used everything I received, even if it was random.  Sometimes you discover a great product you've never heard of.  Even now, with #2 on the way, if someone gave me diapers I don't prefer, I'd still use them.  It's a free diaper, ya know?  I just go back to the brands I prefer when the gifts run out.

  • We love Butt Paste yet for some reason I have recieved 3 large tubes of Desitin so looks like baby #3 will be using that!  The only reason I have to toss a pack of wipes is if they are the really really cheap ones that seem to clean absolutely nothing.

you can always use extra wipes--even if they're not your favorite kind, stick them in your car, they're great for unexpected explosions or messes.

  • They sell packs of Care Bear wipes at our dollar tree. I think my cousin used them and they were fine. But every kid is different. The butt paste is what I was to use on a baby I babysat in the past. It doesn't smell very nice but seemed to work well for him. Hope that helps.

  • I tried some care bear wipes from dollar tree & hated them. I'm sure they'd be fine in the car for hand wipes, but I thought they were terrible for diaper changes.

  • Unless A & D Ointment has changed it's formula, I didn't like it when I used it 7 yrs ago on my DD.  It was thin and greasy, and came off easily right onto the diaper, which seemed to block any pee pee from getting absorbed into the diaper.  I preferred Desitin as it was thicker and stayed on better, but want to try Butt Paste.

A&D is pretty thick....I've never used it on a baby but my husband and I use it when we get tattooed (weird I know but if you put it on the first couple days after it helps heal it better)...

  • I havent had a shower for this baby and don't remember receiving stuff I didn't register for. But I am very picky as to what I use on my kids. My first son was allergic to any pampers wipes except the sensitive, but luckily most of our wipes were huggies. I would probably either donate them or put them in your car. But if your okay with using them, then go for it!
