Austin Babies

diaper Q

we've been using Huggies Pure & Natural diapers. DS can't stand having a wet diaper... the crying starts instantly and can quickly turn into screams. Enough so that I wonder if he's maybe having a reaction (burning maybe??) to the stuff that they use to keep the diaper feeling dry?? has someone experienced this or is my child just going to potty train early cause he hates wet diapers that much? haha. just a baby being a baby? i'll try a different brand anyway when we run out of diapers to see if it helps but trying to decide if i ought to go pick up a different brand tomorrow (or any recs)??

Re: diaper Q

  • I would think if he's having a reaction that his bottom would be red and/or irritated.  It might be worth a shot to try something else.  Is the crying only after he's gone to the bathroom or while he's going to the bathroom?  Could it be a UTI?

My thoughts exactly. You could leave him bare around bath time and see if it upsets him when he pees without a diaper on.

only after. he's peed with a diaper off and in the bath with zero reaction. and i was thinking the same thing... you'd think he'd be red or something but he's not.

  • DD did the same thing up until a couple weeks ago - to the point where, if she was crying or fussing, we learned to check her diaper first, rather than to feed her or think she was tired/hot/cold/etc. We'd go through a zillion diapers each day.

Once she started day care, I guess she got used to having to sit in it for a bit until the teacher could get to her. Ever since, she doesn't freak out on us like she used to.

We used cloth originally (first couple of weeks), but DD was NOT having the wet butt, so we switched to pampers sensitive. We've been happy with them. We plan to switch back to cloth in another month or two - probably whenever she outgrows size 2s, as that's when you can't get disposables with the wetness indicator stripe (which is the only way DH knows she's dirty).

this!! we check his diaper first! we go through an absurd number of diapers for this same reason. sometimes he has to be changed twice during a feeding cause he starts screaming!

  • Our lil one was the same. We tried the huggies and pampers sensitive were much better. The qty will decrease. We also liked the organic wipes but if u soak the regular wipe in water for 10 min. It takes the chemicals out and is less harsh on their bum. Hope this helps.
