For DC's upcoming party, we really don't want to have to spend a few dollars per guest on party favors that will just get tossed in the back of the closet.
Any ideas on just ONE item that costs around a dollar to be enjoyed by 4 and 5 year olds?
Nutmeg, cilantro, sage, mint, thyme... these are a few of my favorite things! We have four children; one left us too soon.
Last year we did a sand bucket/shovel combo from the dollar store for each kid. The kids loved it! This year we did paint your own wooden frames- $1 from Michael's craft store- and we had the paint set up at one of the picnic tables. When I send out the thank you notes (which should have gone out a month ago) I am going to send a pic of each kid from the party in the note.
I've given those huge punching balloons as favors for the last few parties and they are a HUGE hit with the kids. Such a simple thing. I get a bag of probably 6-8 of them at Target on the end of one of the toy aisles for a couple dollars. You could just tie a cute favor tag right to the balloon or maybe attach it to a small card that says thank you or whatever on it.
The dollar store has water guns that are long and skinny that all the kids at the pool had a blast with. We did bubble wands (long thing with bubbles and a wand that's about 14") from Walmart. I think we did silly string too.

For my DD's party this past weekend, we got cute plastic (BPA free) tumblers from the Target $1 bin. Princess ones for the girls and Cars for the boys -= $1 each - they were a huge hit. We also got the kids each one of the squissy balls - also $1 each from the Target $ bin.
Re: One awesome party favor for under $1 each? Does one exist?
