A new sleep development

Ty has been a bit better waking up only 4-6 times a night (better than the 11) but now it is taking longer for him to go back to sleep. Before he'd wake, we'd give him a bottle, and he would go right back to bed. Now he will not take the bottle, even likes to spit it out everywhere, but wakes just to be held and soothed back to sleep, which can take over an hour sometimes. Anyone else have a LO doing this?

Re: A new sleep development

  • DS will wake up in the middle of then night now sometimes even though he was STTN. Last night he woke up at 3:45am and wouldn't go back to sleep.

I think this is what they consider the 4 month wakeful.

  • Um yes, my baby does this. See my similar post below. She wants to be soothed back to sleep and sometimes it takes going in to help her on and off for an hour. I'm desperate for a better stretch of sleep. Good luck, I hope our LOs learn to sleep better soon!! I'm going to talk to her pedi next week about it at her 4 mo appt. People keep telling me to give her rice cereal, but she doesn't want to eat. As soon as I pat her back she's out. For a mintue anyway.

  • YES. My LO only woke up 3x last night, but thanks to this problem and my son waking because of nightmares, I only got an hour and a half of sleep last night.

Have you tried Hyland's Calm forte for the night terrors? It is all homeopathic.

I read yours after writing mine. Glad to know I am not the only one! I think I am going to buy that turtle that projects stars on the ceiling. I am willing to try anything. I am also going to work on getting a day time routine down. We are consistent with his nighttime routine but not so much during the day.  Hopefully we figure it out soon!

  • Ooh I like the turtle idea! We can be sleep deprived together! It will end some day, it has to. One day they'll be 16 and it will be 1 pm and we'll be waking up their lazy butts :)

  • I wish I had some good advice for you.  Wow, 11 times a night?  You're a saint!  Good luck!
