"What to expect when you're expecting" and I was reading about rupture of membranes. It said that 80% of women wont experience this in public (a major fear of mine!). I went to bed feeling a little better about what I had read then I get to work this morning and Im talking to another pg co-worker (she's 39wks) and HER water breaks right in front of me!! We were standing in the middle of the hall and all of a sudden, her pants were SOAKED!! So much for feeling at ease about my water NOT breaking in public!
Re: I was reading last night....
HAHAH! Oh my gosh, that is just incredible timing!
My water didn't break until I was at the hospital, just 17 minutes before DS was born. 80% is a great percentage.
I am freaked out about this happening too! I think I'm going to start carrying around extra clothes just in case.
Congrats to your co-woker though! If my water were to break in front of anyone I would be releived it was in front of another PG woman!
I think at that point, you won't care so much about the embarrassment of having wet pants so much as you'll be excited that LO is coming!
I would definitely be excited about it but worried about being in public with wet pants and no other clothing....yeah, freaks me out a bit. I would know I didnt pee myself and depending on where it happens other people would probably know as well but I would rather it happen while Im at home or in the hospital.
This, guess I don't get what there is to fear. If it happens, it happens, you can't stop it and frankly, everyone will know what's going on.
Ditto this. Also, if I were to pee my pants at this point I would TOTALLY claim it was my water breaking. Thank goodness my bladder control is intact so far!
I had a PPROM last pregnancy, and I was at home anyway. Even if it happens outside the hospital, you're probably in a place where people will understand, like your work. Still, I'm all about the idea of packing extra clothes and some of those big pads or adult diapers for the leakage. At least that way I could get to the hospital comfortably!
