STTN Fail

So I guess one full nights sleep means I get one full night being wide awake! Ty screamed and fussed until 4:30am. I slept from 4:30am-5:30am and then he was up again and I had to get ready for work. He has fussed all day and is still at it. We've tried swaddled, unswaddled, rocking, walking, bouncing, pacifier, bottle, bouncer, tylenol, milicon drops, teething tablets, baby oragel. Finally, at 4:30 I put him in the bouncer and set it on top of the dryer. Thats when he finally went to sleep. Tried it just now, no such luck It is too hot for a walk and Im not sure a car ride will do anything. Generally, when he is this upset a car ride just makes it worse. Could he be sore from his shots? I noticed his legs were much redder than last time and he has hard knots under the injection sight. (had this before too but not as bad). Poor DH and I are exhausted and at our wits end with ideas.

Edit to add we tried the swing too and co sleeping and white noise machine

Re: STTN Fail

  • Sweet baby jesus, I hope that you get some sleep soon.  I suppose it could be from his shots, sure.  I heard recently that the four month vax are worse than the two month- don't know the reasoning behind it, just something I've heard.  If he maintains the same behavior through tonite, I would put a call into the pedi just to let them know what's up.  Hang in there, momma- you're doing a great job!!

  • That's horrible!  I hope it gets better FAST.  And now I'm scared for the 4-month appt. next week....

  • They must be worse, even though they are the same ones! We never had an issue with the 2 month ones. DH finally got him to sleep this afternoon so I got a good 3 hour nap. He is out cold as of now, I sure hope he sttn or at least only wakes 2-3 times!

  • When Mj gets really pissy. I try a warm bath followed by a little lavander aveeno lotion on his belly/legs.  That seems to calm him down.

  • We had the same issue last night too.  DD went down about 10 and the was up from midnight on... Not awake, but kinda crying in her semi sleep state.  Poor thing was running a slight fever as well.  I hate shots!

This is Ty's bedtime ritual. We use the J&J lavender bedtime shampoo/lotion. Love that stuff! He will sleep from 8-11 but we got bed at 11 and that is when he has been getting up. Last night was better. I'm going to say it was due to the shots.

  • My DD had a lot of sleep issues.  She was on and off STTN; she would go down just fine, but staying asleep was her issue.  We resorted to the bouncer with vibrating feature.  I would sit on the floor with her and bounce the thing by hand and would have to sneak out of the room when she started to fall asleep.  Even the tiniest creek in the floor would set her off.  She would go down in her crib and wake up in her bouncer up until 11 months old (luckily she is a peanut and never maxed the weight).  Then it was like a light switch and she just stayed asleep in her crib.  I know it can be tough and frustrating, but keep trying all your tricks until you find one that works.
