Just got back from our 2 month appt, and the pedi pointed out that DD has asymmetrical little fat creases on her thighs so is recommending her for some ultrasounds on her hips. The pedi said she didn't see any signs of anything wrong, but for malpractice reasons had to send us. Of course, I am still worried, though!
Has anyone had hip problems with their LO's? I know it is a lot more common with girls. Just curious what they do for it.
Re: Asymmetrical fat rolls = hip problems?
Both of my Daughters had hip dysplasia. They were both put in a pavlic harnesses. DD#1 only had to wear hers for a little over a month but DD#2 has already been in hers for a month and her orthopedist said she will be in it for at least 3 months.
I have never heard of asymetrical fat rolls being an indication though. I guess I will take another look at LO's legs the next time she gets a bath (the only time she can be out of her harness). Maybe I just never noticed. Both of my LO's were detected at birth during their first assements (just by the doctor doing the bycicle thing with their legs) then confirmed with ultrasound. If your LO is already 2 months old and it hasn't been detected yet you probably don't have anything to worry about. However, if your LO does have it at least it is a relatively easy fix. There are some things I hate about the brace but it really isn't too bad and once it is fixed it is like it never happened.
Thanks for the input!
I figured hip dysplasia would be the culprit, and if it is treated with a harness of some kind for only a few months, we could definitely deal with that! I really couldn't handle surgeries and such now, but a harness, I can deal!
She started out in the NICU, so I feel like they tested her really thoroughly!
Maybe she just has some chubby thighs like mama!
