My Grandfather had a rare bone marrow disease with a terrible prognosis and he shocked the medical community (then, far less advanced than they are now).

I am so, so sorry.  I can't even imagine hearing a diagnosis such as that.  I'm in tears just responding to you here, let along hearing it from a doctor.  Please know that Kate, you, and your husband will all be in my prayers.  I hope that you find a donor soon and everything goes as smoothly as possible.  I hope this is just a story Kate tells way in the future to people to show how strong she is.
