I know there are several in the GA area. I was curious on what people thought of their curriculum. I know each center is different as far as specifics go.
I don't believe they follow as rigid a curriculum as say a Goddard school but both my kids go to a Discovery Point. At 2 1/2 my son knows most of his letters, words that start with those letters, MANY songs, all his shapes and colors. I really believe that it will depend on the center. My biggest thing is both kids are HAPPY. They love it there. I don't follow the mindset that they need to follow a strict curriculum. As long as the learn what they need to before they start pre-k, then I am happy. They have YEARS of school lessons ahead of them. I want them to play, be happy and loved.
I am the Director at a Discovery Point and they are not required to follow a rigid curriculum-all classrooms do have to do a lesson plan but how the curriculum is, is up to each individual center. We actually use the Abeka Curriculum which works great for us. Now we are pretty advanced, but it's what the parents expect of us, our program is more tailored to the needs of the kids in the community. My 4 year old will start Pre-K in the fall and is already starting to read and can write his name and my 2 year old knows all of his letters, numbers colors and shapes. Before I started working here my daughter went to one in Alpharetta and I thought it was great then as well. But I do agree the most important thing is for them to be happy and loved and my kids ask to come to school on the weekends!!!
