Trying to Get Pregnant

positive OPK and BD timing

looking for some advice here. i've been taking OPK tests twice a day for the last 5 days. yesterday (friday) both were negative, but hubby and i had sex last night anyway. this morning (saturday) i had a positive OPK, and it was still positive in the afternoon.

do you think we should have sex again tonight? or wait until sunday morning?

Re: positive OPK and BD timing

  • personally i'm wondering the same thing. we had a positive yesterday and then tried. Today i tested and was possitive he works late tonight so i just tested to make sure before he comes home and my test is now negative. So i honestly wouldnt wait because i waited not even 12 hours and my results changed

  • If your H has no known sperm issues then go ahead an BD tonight if you want.  ED sex is fine, if he has sperm count issues then EOD is suggested.  It's kind of a personal decision at this point.  You can do it again tonight or in the morning... personally, I'd BD ED until the thermal shift confirms O, but that's just my style.  GL!

  • I really don't think it matters. Do it whichever time will be more fun. Stick out tongue
  • A positive OPK can occur 12-48 hours before ovulation actually occurs, so I would keep having sex as much as you can/want as long as there are no known sperm issues. :)

I would recommend charting your temps if you don't already - in combination with OPKs, you have a great chance at timing sex just right.

Second poster, that fact that your test is now negative would suggest that the rise in LH that precedes ovulation is now over.  Theoretically, this should mean that your body has ovulated (or at least that it prepared to, and that this preparation is now done).  Assuming that an egg may have been released, I'd have sex tonight then once more tomorrow for good measure.  OP, I'd go ED until you see a negative test, then at least once more following that negative.

Thanks for the advice! This is my first month using those so i'm trying to learn everything i can about how to use them right!
