Baby Names

Girl names (click poll)

Got about six weeks left and can't agree on a name.  The husband pick is Elliot (I know how many feel about boys names for girls!) I like Elliot, but don't like Ellie or Ella and am afraid that's what she would end up being called.  Anywho, here are a couple I like

Re: Girl names (click poll)

  • i strongly dislike elliot for a girl. margot isn't my style but it's pretty. linden is the street i live on and it's a terrible street at that so i'd never be able to vote for it. lylah is lovely but i'm not fond of the spelling really.

  • I really like Margot.  Lylah is also nice.  And I like that spelling of it because it's clear as to the pronunciation.  I really don't care for Robin or Linden and am with all the ones that hate Elliot for a girl.  It works on the TV show, but it doesn't mean I see it working in real life.  And I do think she'd end up being called Ellie or Ella unless she decides to "own" her name and you won't know that until later.

  • I have a girlfriend who named her second DD Elliott, and at the time, I didn't like it, but it has grown on me, and it really fits her.  If you like it, use it, who cares what anyone else thinks.

  • I don't care for Elliott on a girl OR a boy..........just NMS, but a fun nn could be Lotty
  • I voted for Lylah, but I prefer the spellings Lilah or Lila.

There are just so many unnecessary y's these days (names like Madysyn, Madylyn, etc.), that I tend to prefer the "i" spellings whenever possible!

  • I voted for Robin. Angel

Seriously I love my name (and the original spelling too) and even though it's not even in the top 1000 for social security, it's a great name.

Just keep in mind the main negatives: Rockin' Robin, Batman & Robin and Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg..

  • My pick was Margot. Robin isn't bad. All the girls I know spell it Robyn, so I always think of that as the feminine spelling, and Robin as the masculine. Although both are legit and some people feel the "Y" looks like it's grouped in with the superfluous "Y" trend. I'm not going to comment on the rest...

  • Margot, Robin, or Lilah (with an "i"). Sorry just cannot get on board with male names like Elliott or Lyndon.
